What's unfortunate for Cleveland is that sports have become less a distraction and more a solution to the city's problems, and that's never going to end well.

I love you, Cleveland, but grow up already.Jefhttp://www.meatballday.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8100375.post-17355399891312603982010-07-09T15:34:06.817-04:002010-07-09T15:34:06.817-04:00i totally agree with shannon and jessica. althoug...i totally agree with shannon and jessica. although i may not have posted the link to the letter, which felt a teensy bit over the top at times (like telling him he can't or won't get into heaven??). but yeah, though i don't follow basketball and didn't see the Lebron Show last night, i feel it as just another hit by someone who should have known better.

cleveland rocks! i love lists like the one you make at the beginning enumerating our awesomenesses. they are real!

and p.s., i don't know if betty white is doing us any favors these days either...katinoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8100375.post-80419089366138361692010-07-09T15:02:24.488-04:002010-07-09T15:02:24.488-04:00This is exactly how I felt about it. The entire city had lifted him up as their hero. He was literally the hope of millions... the only thread of morale. So leaving the way he did was like kicking the city when it was down. It was awful, difficult to watch... almost an immoral betrayal. And it makes me feel so very, very protective of a city I adore.Jessicahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14860892180405780274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8100375.post-12555250175602476812010-07-09T10:39:58.082-04:002010-07-09T10:39:58.082-04:00Here's the letter: http://www.nba.com/cavalier...Here's the letter: http://www.nba.com/cavaliers/news/gilbert_letter_100708.htmlShannon Simpsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10520495870459590424noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8100375.post-90115077566448577432010-07-09T10:17:47.283-04:002010-07-09T10:17:47.283-04:00Becky, you really hit the nail on the head. IF he...Becky, you really hit the nail on the head. IF he really felt he had to leave he should have done it FROM Cleveland, been remorseful and talked about the great years and how he wishes the Cavs the best - Even if he didn't actually believe that. But the very fact that he did it on a nationally televised show and just seemed to not give a crap about the city, pretty much shows that he's a total D-Bag. I bet you the Cavs will make it big in the coming years, the way he treated the team and the city will be motivation enough for them to win. Mark my words, he will become a sad casualty of celebrity in no time. Did you read the letter the coach sent to him? Awesome stuff.Shannon Simpsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10520495870459590424noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8100375.post-25841821807087295882010-07-09T09:49:42.831-04:002010-07-09T09:49:42.831-04:00Great portrait of your city. Next year while I'm on mat leave we're thinking about taking six weeks or so and doing THE big American road trip, driving to LA but stopping everwhere on the way. I've never been to Ohio, even though two of my best friends spent a year there in college.Marie-Èvehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00174894872050076618noreply@blogger.com
